About

Photographer, brand designer, growth operator — now Product Lead.

Hi — I'm Mason. Grew up in Southern California, moved to San Luis Obispo in 2012, and spent a decade building a wedding photography brand with my wife (250+ weddings) while doing brand consulting on the side. Shifted into tech in 2019 as a PM, then four years at Twilio Segment building scaled Customer Success programs — which is where I first ran Chameleon as a customer. Joined Chameleon as Head of Growth in late 2024, became Product Lead the following spring.

The thread

Photography taught me composition and patience. Brand design taught me that the visible thing is downstream of a clear point of view. Product management is the same work at a different scale: figure out the point of view, then make it visible enough that a team can act on it.

Most of my specs end up looking like editorial layouts — numbered sections, a single principle in big type, annotations along the bottom. That's not a style choice. It's the only format I've found that survives contact with a busy designer or engineer who has eight tabs open.

At Chameleon

I own the Core platform — Dashboard, Builder, segmentation, and the runtime experiences customers ship. I joined as Head of Growth in October 2024 (self-serve onboarding, lifecycle campaigns, insight-to-roadmap pipelines) and moved into the Product Lead role in April 2025. Day to day: shaping projects with our designer Val, partnering with our EM Felipe on engineering plans, and running tight feedback loops with CS so the roadmap stays anchored in what customers are actually saying.

Before this I was at Twilio Segment for four years in Customer Success Programs — designing scaled onboarding and lifecycle campaigns for a $300M ARR portfolio, and first running Chameleon as a customer. That perspective stays useful. I write specs the way a CSM would read them, which means a lot less jargon and a lot more what is this for, and who's it for.

On the volume side, we shipped 100+ product improvements via our Quick Wins process this past year alongside the larger feature work — small high-impact changes that compound. I care about the bigger releases and the unglamorous weekly wins.

What I'm trying to get better at

  • Shaping AI-native features without losing the soul of the product.
  • Retention attribution — proving the work, not just shipping it.
  • Treating specs as design artifacts, not Notion docs.

Outside of this

Three young kids, a wife I still take pictures of, and a youth soccer team I coach (Team 805 Purple Tigers). I run most mornings — not fast, just often. I write a newsletter called This Could Work! when I have something worth saying.
